Stanley Hu (S.B. 2000) photographed the July 4 fireworks for the Associated Press from the roof of the 295-foot Green Buiilding on the MIT campus. Camera in hand, he also wandered through the crowd earlier in the day.
Hu, who earned the M.Eng. degree in 2001 in electrical engineering and computer science, took several photography courses over the years, including one with Professor James Bales at MIT's Strobe Laboratory. In addition to the AP wire, his work has appeared in The Boston Globe, The Tech, New England Runner and local newspapers. He has been seriously taking photos for three years.
"I like the challenge of getting an image that makes people say, 'Wow! That's a great shot,'" said Hu, a software engineer at Vanu Inc. "Photography is fun because it combines technical, artistic and journalistic elements in one package."
