The Irwin Sizer Awards for Significant Improvements to MIT education were given to the MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP) Redesign team. Assistant Dean for Graduate Students Christopher Jones and Bayer Professor of Chemical Engineering Paula Hammond.

Winners of the Gordon Y. Billard award, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and professor of hydrodynamics Dick Yue, and Priscilla King Gray and Paul E. Gray; fomer First Lady and President of MIT. It is presented to a member of the faculty, nonfaculty employee, or one not necessarily affiliated with the Institute, for special service of outstanding merit performed for the Institute.

The Laya Wiesner Community Award was given to E. Sinclair deBordenave of the Women's League, for conspicuously effective service that reflects Mrs. Wiesner's concerns for enhancing life at the Institute and in the world at large.
