Carnival to impact MIT-area traffic Sunday

Several streets around the MIT campus will be closed Sunday, Aug. 24 due to the Cambridge Carnival hosted by the City of Cambridge.

The Caribbean-style carnival, which will feature a costume parade, music and dance performances, and arts and crafts, will run from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Main Street between Wadsworth and Vassar streets will be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The parade route, from Kendall Square down Main Street and Massachusetts Avenue to Central Square, will be closed from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Other secondary streets adjacent to the parade route may be barricaded from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Police will redirect traffic at major intersections.
