Beginning in July, members of the MIT community will see important changes in the services provided by the Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF). The so-called “Digital Evolution” in MIT operations emerged as a theme from the Institute-wide Planning Task Force and accelerated efforts already underway in VPF and other departments to better align services with the increasingly global nature of the MIT community.

The key milestones in July are as follows:
  • The MIT Cashier Window in NE49 will be closed as of July 1. In place of the window, VPF is implementing more secure and more efficient services for processing cash. Learn more
  • An electronic Request for Payment (RFP) service will be available Institute-wide on July 6, eliminating the need for the current manual, paper-based process. The SAPweb-based service includes electronic routing for approvals and direct deposit of reimbursements for individuals who receive direct deposit for payroll. Learn more
  • Faculty, students and staff (excluding union employees) will receive ePaystubs instead of paper paystubs as of the July 30 pay date. Available through SAPweb Employee Self Service, the ePaystubs service offers the capability to print paystubs and includes historical paystubs (initially back to Nov. 1, 2009). It is important to note that an active MIT web certificate is required to access ePaystubs. As all MIT Web certificates expire July 30, members of the community are asked to renew their Web certificates prior to attempting to access ePaystubs. Learn more
VPF has alerted members of the community to these important changes in service through an array of communication outlets, most notably an e-mail to faculty, students and staff in May from Vice President for Finance Israel Ruiz. VPF asks members of the community to prepare for the upcoming changes and to circulate news of the changes to colleagues across MIT. Individuals with questions or concerns are asked to contact VPF.
