After five years at the helm, Yung Ho Chang has stepped down as head of the Department of Architecture, a position he assumed in the summer of 2005.
During his tenure as head, the department was ranked second among U.S. architecture schools’ graduate programs by Design Intelligence magazine.
Under Chang’s administration, the MArch and SMVisS programs both underwent a period of expansion –—and with that, an expansion of opportunities made possible by the larger numbers — and the core design curriculum was revised to feature three core studios and three option studios, plus thesis; the various discipline groups were also integrated more fully into the curriculum through the co-teaching of studios.
