The Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission offers one postdoctoral Marshall Sherfield Fellowship annually, which enables an American scientist or engineer to undertake postdoctoral research for a period of one to two academic years at a British university as a commemoration of the Marshall Plan.
Malek is currently completing her doctoral dissertation under the tutelage of architecture and CEE associate professor John Ochsendorf.
“Samar's PhD research has broken new ground in the study of geometry and efficiency for gridshells, and the Marshall Sherfield Fellowship will provide essential support to extend her work in new directions," Ochsendorf said. "We are thrilled that she has the opportunity to continue her research with faculty at the University of Bath, who have pioneered research in this area in recent decades. It is really a great match for her.”
