What do the Celtics, the Bruins, the Boston Blazers and the MIT Men's Ultimate Frisbee team all have in common? They all play in the TD Banknorth Garden. And although the MIT team may not play there as often as the pros, they play just as hard.
Earlier this month, MIT faced off against Worcester Polytechnic Institute for a friendly scrimmage at the Garden as part of a promotion by the Boston Blazers professional lacrosse team. It was an unorthodox game — rules had to be adjusted to accomodate playing inside a hockey rink carpeted with artificial turf, the endzone had rounded corners, and there was no wind to speak of — but a great day to play in a unique venue.
In the end, WPI eeked out a victory, but the MIT club team will get a second chance. They'll play Northeastern University in the Garden again this Sunday, March 6.
