The YMCA Achievers program is dedicated to helping all urban youth reach their fullest potential. Many of Boston's youth graduate high school and are left to navigate the college process by themselves. From College Path to the Summer Institute, the Achievers program provides educational enrichment opportunities to prepare for college and career. The Achievers Program is part of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the largest provider of social services in Massachusetts. For the past 36 years, MIT has been a sponsor of the Achievers Program by supporting the community service work of the awardees.

This illustration shows a lead sulfide quantum dot array. Each quantum dot (the colored clusters) is 'passivated' by molecules that bind to its surface. Dots that are made up of unequal amounts of lead and sulfur tend to cause electrons (shown in red) to become highly localized, which can substantially lower the electrical transport of the device.Image: Donghun Kim and Jeffrey C.
