Wayne M. Ayers serves as principal economic advisor to the senior management of BankBoston, providing analytic guidance to funding, portfolio, lending and strategic planning decisions. He is responsible for managing and integrating the research of the Corporation's global network of economists, both in the U.S. and abroad. He is BankBoston's spokesperson on the economy and financial markets, and appears regularly as a commentator on CNN's financial network. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, he is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University. Prior to joining BankBoston in 1979, he was an economist for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington.
