Faculty Group Endorses Statement A number of MIT faculty members joined with scientists and engineers from area universities and other organizations in a press conference at Cambridge City Hall on Thursday (January 10) to urge that the government rely on sanctions, coupled with negotiations, to end Iraq's occupation of Kuwait. While opposing the occupation, and supporting the blockade of Iraq, the group said in a statement, "we also recognize recognize the immensely high and long-lasting costs of rectifying this aggression by war." Dr. Herman Feshbach, Institute Professor, Emeritus, and professor of physics, emeritus and Dr. Vera Kistiakowsky, professor of physics, were among those who spoke at the news conference.
