Mikic Named in ME

Professor Borivoje B. Mikic, noted for his pioneering contributions to 
heat transfer and engineering education, has been appointed associate 
head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, effective July 1.

The announcement was made by the head of the department, Nam P. Suh, the 
Ralph E. and Eloise F. Cross Professor of Manufacturing.

Professor Suh said that Professor Mikic, a faculty member since 1966, 
has extensive knowledge of the workings of the department and the 
Institute and his experience as House Master of 500 Memorial Drive gives 
him a thorough understanding of the needs of students. "I am certain 
that he will be an effective and dynamic leader in his new position," 
Professor Suh said.

Professor Suh was recently named department head, succeeding Professor 
David N. Wormley who was appointed associate dean of the School of 
Engineering. The department has not had an associate head in recent 
years.
