Tenure Awarded to 12 Twelve MIT associate professors were granted permanent tenure by the Executive Committee, effective July 1. They are: School of Architecture and Planning: Biswapriya Sanyal, associate professor of regional studies and urban planning in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, and J. Mark Davidson Schuster, associate professor of urban studies and planning in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. School of Engineering: Dennis McLaughlin, associate professor of civil engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering; Michael F. Rubner, Class of 1957 Associate Professor of Polymer Physics in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and Nicholas M. Patrikalakis, associate professor of ocean engineering in the Department of Ocean Engineering. School of Management: Paul Asquith, associate professor of finance; Charles H. Fine, associate professor of management science; Kenneth A. Froot, associate professor of economics; David S. Scharfstein, associate professor of finance, and Jeremy C. Stein, associate professor of management. School of Science: Richard A. Young, associate professor of biology in the Department of Biology, and Daniel H. Rothman, associate professor of geophysics in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences.
