Conference Planning Committee

Description: This committee assists the Chair in managing NSBE-MIT’s participation in NSBE Conferences with assistance in rooming assignments, modes of transportation, and logistics planning. The Conference Planning Committee is also responsible for coordinating any conference that NSBE-MIT hosts for the general society.

Freshman Committee

Description: The Freshmen Committee consists of NSBE-MIT members with first year status. Each year the Freshmen Committee plays a pivotal role in the development and growth of the NSBE-MIT Chapter. The Freshmen Committee is responsible for developing a chapter chant, designing a t-shirt, and coordinating general NSBE-MIT activities.

Finance Committee

Description: This committee assists the Treasurer in managing the NSBE-MIT budget, soliciting funds from companies and departments, and organizing financial vitality workshops. The Finance Committee is also responsible for coordinating NSBE-MIT fundraising activities. This committee is also responsible for coordinating corporate involvement with NSBE-MIT. Responsibilities include scheduling information sessions, obtaining corporate solicitations, and advertising for corporate events. The Finance Committee plays a big role in the funding of the Chapter.

Research and Communications Committee

Description: Within this group are two subcommittees: the Research and Newsletter Committees. The Newsletter Committee publishes monthly issues of the NSBE-MIT Newsletter, The Torch. If you would like to submit an article or volunteer to be a photographer please contact the chairs. The Research Committee is responsible for the Technical Excellence of the Chapter, through participation in events such as USTR and the BlUES Research Colloquium.

Programs Committee

Description: This committee will work closely with the Programs Chair to help organize and participate in the community service and cultural projects that NSBE-MIT undertakes. The Programs Committee is also responsible for the submission of the Chapter Development Program.

Pre-College Initiative Committee

Description: This committee assists the PCI Chair in managing the NSBE-MIT PCI Chapter of NSBE. The committee’s involvement includes a PCI mentorship program, attending the PCI school twice a month, and providing activities for the PCI Chapter. The PCI Committee is also responsible for coordinating the PCI Chapter’s involvement at NSBE Conferences.
