What is NSBE?

The National Society of Black Engineers is the largest student-managed organization in the country. There are more than 26,000 members divided between 75 Alumni Extension chapters, 75 Pre-Collage chapters, and more than 270 student chapters in the United States, Canada, and a few other countries around the globe. The annual national convention hosts over 10,000 members.

Committees

Research and Communications Committee (RCComm)
Contact: Vice Person and Secretary
Description: RCComm is responsible for publicity and maintaining communication within the chapter. Within this group are two subcommittees: the webpage and newsletter committees. The Webpage Committee is currently redesigning and updating the NSBE-MIT webpage. The Newsletter Committee has published two issues of the NSBE Newletter. If you would like to submit an article or volunteer to be a photographer please contact the chairs. The NSBE newletter is now upplied online through the Career Resources or Scholarships page of the web site.

Freshman Committee
Contact: Programs Chairperson
Description: The Freshmen Committee consists of NSBE-MIT members with first year status. Each year the Freshmen Committee plays a pivotal role in the development and growth of the NSBE-MIT Chapter. The Freshmen Committee is responsible for developing a chapter chant, designing a t-shirt, and coordinating fund-raising activities.

Programs Committee
Contact: Programs Chairperson
Description: This newly formed committee will work closely with this year's Programs Chair to help organize and participate in the community service and cultural projects that NSBE-MIT undertakes.

Finance Committee
Contact: Treasurer
Description: This committee assists the Treasurer in managing the NSBE-MIT budget, soliciting funds from companies and departments, and organizing financial vitality workshops.

Flashback Committee
Contact: Programs Chairperson
Description: This committee is responsible for maintaining photographs and videos of NSBE-MIT events, trips, and conferences.
