What were your interests in high school?
In high school, I was kind of all over the place. I did math competitions, drew a lot, and read/memorized poetry. My favorite subjects were history and economics.

What is your favorite activity outside of the classroom?
That’s a good question — probably either playing piano or knitting or petting my cat.

Why did you decide to major in course 22?
Everything just seemed to lead me to this.

I distinctly remember in my junior year of high school, my physics teacher dedicated a day to talk to us about nuclear power. See, I’d always heard "E=mc2" as something smart people said, but it wasn't until that day that I heard what a cool concept it actually represented. I mean, mass to energy. You’ve got to be kidding, how cool is that? How could I not major in this?

What’s more, the department is close-knit and personable — you don’t get lost in the crowd.

What is you most memorable experience so far as a course 22 student?
That moment when I open up one of my 22.01 psets and find that we’re supposed to calculate the amount of radiation you get from spooning (with a picture of two cute spooning puppies in it). Where else do you get this as your homework??

What would you like to do after graduating?
I’m not sure. Since the beginning of my freshman year, I’ve been UROPing under Prof. Forget and Prof. Smith in the Computational Reactor Physics Group, which is a really incredible group. Realistically, I can’t imagine not going to grad school. But then again, I have time (right?)
