Why would I need to petition?

A petition is simply a written request to the ODGE asking for a particular action. With the various deadlines and course options available at MIT, it is very likely that almost every graduate student will at one time or another need to file a petition through the ODGE. Typically, petitions involve late course adds or drops, completion of incomplete courses from previous semesters, and the election of dual degrees.
