8.2.1.2 Ring Dike

A ring dike is arcuate or roughly circular in plan and is vertical or inclined away from the axis of the arc. A ring dike occurs when magma pushes out a cylindrical section of crust. Ring dikes are often associated with cone sheets, which are volcanic intrusions roughly circular in plan, but which dip inward at angles of 30-45 degrees.
