Background Information
Jack Oldham returned to MIT in 2002 to become Director of Foundation
Relations. Dr. Oldham's primary responsibility is to cultivate relationships
with the philanthropic community in support of MIT's institutional
priorities and faculty initiatives. He also manages a staff of eleven
responsible for maintaining MIT's relationships with private foundations,
liaison with the deans and faculty, prospect identification and research,
project coordination, proposal development and foundation stewardship.
In the decade prior to his return to MIT in 2002, he headed a small
management consulting firm that served institutions of higher education
and the philanthropic community. He has also served as associate vice
president for external relations at Bryant College in Rhode Island,
and as a fundraising administrator and director of school development
services at MIT from 1981-91. Dr. Oldham began his career as a professor
of sociology and director of sponsored programs at St. Joseph's University
in Philadelphia.
