Description

Indiana University’s Oncourse system provides a comprehensive solution for the creation of Web-based teaching and learning environments. For distance education courses or face-to-face instruction, Oncourse offers a way for faculty to develop distributed multimedia course content and use collaborative tools to support teaching and learning. Over 77% of IU’s 100,000+ students and faculty utilize the application.

The O.K.I. Role

Indiana University joined O.K.I. as a Core Collaborator in the fall of 2002. O.K.I.'s strategy of using Service Interface Definitions is entirely consistent with IU's strategies for unbundling applications and web services. The university is currently engaged with other Core Collaborators on multiple electronic learning tools and a complete O.K.I.-compliant Course Management System (Oncourse-Next Generation), called Navigo.
