OME Student Advisory Council (OMESAC)
The secondary mission of the OME after fostering academic achievement is to develop leaders. In keeping with the goal of facilitating students’ excellence at MIT and beyond, it is important for students to assume greater participation and influence in leadership positions among minority student groups, living groups, and campus-wide responsibilities.
The OME directors meet biweekly with a student advisory council to monitor their needs and success, and to develop a dialogue about OME programs, structure, and staffing. OMESAC comprises presidents of the student professional and cultural groups that serve our constituency, namely:
- American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)
- Association of Puerto Rican Students (APR)
- The MIT Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA)
- The MIT Black Student Union (BSU)
- Black Women’s Alliance (BWA)
- Caribbean Club
