Rules & Regulations
Interphase participants have a responsibility to add positively to the high standards of the social and scholarly environment of Interphase. All actions by Interphase participants should be consistent with this fundamental responsibility. The following set of rules and regulations identifies some specific areas of focus.
Students:
Do not consume or inhale alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs
Failure to comply will lead to immediate dismissal from the program.
Defacement or destruction of dormitory or other MIT property will seriously jeopardize the future of this program and are grounds for immediate dismissal.
Students whose behavior is judged by the Interphase administration to be disruptive to the program, to other participants, or to yourself, may be sent home at the discretion of the faculty and administrative director.
All activities, both academic and non-academic, including class attendance and completion of homework assignments, are required in this program (unless otherwise indicated on the schedule).
Incidences of academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, or unauthorized collaboration) will lead to immediate dismissal from the program.
The Interphase administrative staff may, at its discretion, elect to send a student home if his or her academic responsibilities are judged to have been chronically neglected.
Students will not be permitted to visit home on weekends except in exceptional cases and only with written permission from a parent or guardian. Students will have many commitments during the week and on weekends. Parents and relatives are requested not to visit their son or daughter, since this may interfere with the student's performance in the program.
Overnight guests are not permitted during the Interphase program.
Students are required to keep all noise to a minimum during "quiet hours", between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM on weekdays and between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM on weekends. Students will be dismissed for multiple noise violations.
Students are required to remove their belongings or any trash from study lounges.
Students are requested always to let a tutor know where they are going when leaving the dormitory, and not to leave the campus alone.
There will be no gender mixing for studying after midnight in the dormitory rooms.
There will be a weekend curfew (Friday and Saturday nights). Students must be in the dormitory no later than 1:00 a.m.
Enjoy the seven-and-a-half weeks in the Interphase program!
