Teaching and Research Assistantships

The Operations Research Center offers a number of full- and part-time research assistantships to incoming and graduate students on a competitive basis. These assistantships entail working in close contact with a faculty member on theoretical or applied research projects. Research assistantships often lead to thesis-related research. Full-time graduate assistantships carry monthly stipends of approximately $2,771 (2014-2015), a full tuition award, and individual health insurance. Continuing graduate students in the ORC who require support hold assistantships throughout their graduate careers.

Teaching assistantships are tendered by academic departments and provide students with the opportunity to aid in lecturing, structuring of assignments, grading papers, and tutoring for specific subjects. These positions are generally offered on the basis of subject matter competence and interest. Support is either full-time or part-time, depending on student enrollment in a particular subject.
