>Les Servi is a senior principal member of the technical staff of GTE Laboratories. He is currently on the Board of Directors of INFORMS as well as the current chair of the Applied Probability Society of INFORMS. He received an Sc. B. and Sc. M. degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in May, 1977, and and M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Engineering from Harvard University in 1978 and 1981, respectively. He previously worked at Bell Labs, 1981-3, and took a sabbatical leave from GTE to Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1989-90. He is a former associate editor of Operations Research and INFORMS Journal on Computing. In 1999, he received GTE's highest technical award from its CEO, C. R. Lee, for his role in a technically and financially successful application of operations research to a telecommunication inventory problem.
