BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Professor John Hauser

John Hauser graduated from the ORC in 1975 having used decision analysis and probabilistic modeling to study new product development. From the ORC his first job was at Northwestern University with a joint appointment in the Marketing Department and the Transportation Center where he found his ORC training invaluable. After earning tenure at NU, MIT made him an offer he couldn't refuse and he has never looked back. He is now the Kirin Professor of Marketing at Sloan and heads the Virtual Customer Initiative. He and his colleagues continue to apply OR models to interesting marketing problems including R&D and new-product-development metrics, customer preference measurement, website design, automated marketing, and lean sustainment of Navy and Air Force systems. Oh yes, this September he is receiving the Parlin Award in marketing, the oldest award given by the AMA. It has been won previously by John Little, Glen Urban, A.C. Nielsen, August Busch III, and other OR practitioners in marketing.
