BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

 

 

Professor Jeff McGill

 

 

 

Jeff McGill is an Associate Professor of Management Science and Operations Management at Queen's University School of Business in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mathematics and worked for over eight years in industry, first, in new product development with Domtar Limited Research Center (Montreal) and later in operations research at Canadian National Railways. He returned to academia in the 1980's and received a PhD in management science from the University of British Columbia. His dissertation on optimization and estimation problems in airline yield management won the 1990 doctoral dissertation prize from the Transportation Science section of ORSA (now INFORMS). Jeff was Assistant Professor in Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Denver School of Business before moving to Queen's in 1993. Jeff's research focuses on stochastic modeling and statistical methods relating to revenue management in the transportation industry. His papers in these areas have appeared in Management Science, Transportation Science, Operations Research, Communications in Statistics, The Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, and The Annals of Operations Research. Jeff is an Associate Editor of the journal Transportation Science and a member of the Canadian Operational Research Society and INFORMS.
