BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

 

 

Dr. Les Servi

                                   

 

Dr. Servi received a Sc.B. and Sc. M. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in 1977 and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Harvard University in 1981.  He worked at Bell Laboratories from 1981 to 1983 and GTE Laboratories from 1983 to 2000 (with a sabbatical leave in 1989-90 split between Harvard University and MIT).  In 1999, the CEO of GTE, Charles Lee, presented him with GTE’s highest technical award. Since 2000, he worked in the Advanced Networks and Applications group of MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

 

He has been very active with INFORMS.  He served as an associate editor of two journals, Board Executive Committee member for two years, Board member for four years, and chair of both the Applied Probability Society and the Telecommunication Society. He holds 7 patents, has 4 patent applications under review, and is author of over three dozen published papers in the area of performance analysis applied to telecommunication systems.
