Professor Bill Cunningham

Professor Cunningham received his Ph.D at the University of Waterloo, and held positions at Johns Hopkins University and Carleton University before returning to Waterloo in 1991. He has spent leaves at Bonn and Grenoble.

His research interests are in combinatorial optimization, especially polyhedral methods, and matchings, matroids, and generalizations. He is co-author with Cook, Pulleyblank and Schrijver of a book on Combinatorial Optimization. He served as chair of the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization at Waterloo from 1998 to 2003. He was managing editor of the Journal of Combinatorial Theory B from 1992 to 2003, and was recently chair of the selection committee for the George B. Dantzig Prize.
