BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

 

 

Professor Arkadi Nemirovski

                                   

 

Professor Arkadi Nemirovski was born in Moscow, USSR. He received his M.Sc. (1970) and Ph.D. (1973) degrees in Math from Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. He occupied various research positions in the USSR. He immigrated to Israel (1993) and is currently Professor at Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management,Technion –Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa.

Professor Nemirovski research interests are in convex optimization and non-parametric statistics. He co-authored 4 monographs and over 90 papers on these subjects.

He was Awarded Fulkerson Prize of Mathematical Programming Society and AMS (1982, joint with D. Yudin and L. Khachiyan), Dantzig Prize of MPS and SIAM (1991, joint with M. Groetschel) and von Neumann Theory Prize of INFORMS (2003, joint with M. Todd).
