Ward has been part of the operations research community for more
than 40 years, having entered graduate school at Cornell to study
operations research in 1964. Ward joined Columbia University’s
IEOR Department in 2002, after spending 25 years in research at
AT&T, first at Bell Labs and then at AT&T Labs. Ward’s
research has focused on queues, stochastic-process limits, stochastic
comparisons, numerical transform inversion, telecommunication applications,
and customer contact centers.
