BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Uriel G. Rothblum

Uriel G. Rothblum holds a B.Sc. degree in applied mathematics, magna cum laude, and M.Sc. degree in mathematics, summa cum laude, both from Tel Aviv University. He received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford in 1974.

He spent a year as a post-doc at the Courant Institute of NYU, and joined the faculty of the Yale School of Organization and Management in 1975. In 1984 he joined the Technion as a Professor in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management, and was appointed to the Alexander Goldberg Chair in Management Science in 1992. He has also held visiting positions at Stanford, the Rutgers Center for Operations Research (RUTCOR), AT&T Bell Labs and is currently holding a visiting position at Columbia University. Prof. Rothblum's research interests are broad and include optimization, linear models, game theory, applied probability, and mathematical economics.

Prof. Rothblum has served the Technion as Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management (1992--1995), Deputy Provost (1998--2000), and Vice President for Academic Affairs (2000-2002). He received the New England Academic Excellence Award in 1989, the Operations Research Meritorious Service Award twice, in 1997 and 1999. He became an INFORMS Fellow in 2003.
