BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Robert A. Shumsky

Robert A. Shumsky is an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester. Professor Shumsky has research and teaching interests in the modeling and control of service systems. Current research focuses on the dynamic use of flexible capacity, the use of incentives for operational control of service systems, and the application of revenue management under competition. He has conducted research on the U.S. air traffic management system and studied transportation operations for the Massachusetts Port Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration. His research has been published in Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), IIE Transactions and Air Traffic Control Quarterly. He is an associate editor for Management Science and Operations Research, a senior editor for Production and Operations Management (POM) and serves on the editorial review boards of M&SOM and the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management. At the Simon School, he won numerous teaching awards from the executive M.B.A. and full-time M.B.A. students. Professor Shumsky earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
