BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Stefanos A. Zenios

Stefanos Zenios is an Associate Professor and the Spence Faculty Scholar for 2004-05 at the Graduate School of Business. Professor Zenios studies health care delivery systems for patients with complex medical needs. He explores ways to improve health care outcomes through enhanced utilization of medical technologies and increased patient choice. Using chronic renal insufficiency as the context for his research, Professor Zenios utilizes economic and mathematical models to establish optimal strategies for the initiation of dialysis, and to evaluate alternative mechanism for managing the transplant waiting list. The analysis identifies the economic, social, and ethical dilemmas posed by the vast array of treatment choices provided by the advancements in the medical field. Professor Zenios has a BA and MA in Mathematics and Computer Science from Cambridge University and a PhD in Operation Research from MIT.
