Damon Wischik studied mathematics at Cambridge University, and
in 2000 completed his PhD in the Statistical Laboratory. His work
on large deviations and queueing theory led to a book "Big
Queues", co-authored with A. Ganesh and N. O'Connell, which
was awarded the 2005 best publication award by the Applied Probability
Society of INFORMS. He was a research fellow at Trinity College,
Cambridge, until 2004, and now holds a university research fellowship
from the Royal Society, in the computer science department at University
College London. His research interest is in finding useful mathematical
and statistical models for communication networks.
