TITLE
Tales of an OR Company: From Problems to Solutions to Decision Support Systems

ABSTRACT
After over twenty years of academic career, I founded the company, Innovative Scheduling, Inc. The focus of the company is to develop algorithms for complex and large-scale optimization problems arising in logistics and transportation, and to package them in web-enabled decision support systems. Each of the systems developed by the company is unique and solves problems that were previously solved primarily by hand in the industry. In this talk, I will share experiences of founding the company and growing it. I will explain our stages of software development: from modeling to algorithm development, and then to the development of decision support systems. I will also touch upon my experiences in sales and marketing of software products.
