TITLE
A Model for a Zonal Operating Reserve Demand Curve

ABSTRACT
Scarcity pricing presents a challenge for organized electricity markets. Scarcity prices provide signals for improved operations and investments. An increased emphasis on energy efficiency and intermittent renewable supplies motivates efforts to provide smarter pricing for a smart electricity system. A zonal model of operating reserve demand contributes to better pricing of reliability and capacity constraints.
