BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Jorge Nocedal

Jorge Nocedal is a professor in the EECS and IEMS departments at Northwestern University. His areas of research are optimization and scientific computing, and their application in the physical sciences, computer-aided design, financial engineering and machine learning. The algorithms and software developed by his research group (including Knitro and L-BFGS) are widely used in science and business. He serves in the editorial boards of SIAM J. Optimization, Mathematical Programming and SIAM Review. In 1998 Jorge Nocedal was appointed Bette and Neison Harris Professor at Northwestern. He is an ISI Highly Cited researcher (mathematics category).
