Kavita Ramanan received her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in 1998. After a post-doctoral position at the Technion, Israel, she worked for several years as a researcher at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Bell Laboratories. She joined Carnegie Mellon University in 2003, where she is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Her research interests lie in probability theory, stochastic processes and their applications, especially to the study of stochastic networks.
