BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Juan Pablo Vielma

Juan Pablo Vielma is an Assistant Professor in Operations Research and Statistics at the MIT Sloan School of Management.Previously, he was an Assistant Professor in the department of industrial engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and was the 2009 Herman Goldstine Postdoctoral Fellow at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center.His research interests include theory and technology for linear, non-linear, and stochastic mixed integer programming, and optimization models in sustainable natural resource management and environmental protection.Vielma holds a BS and a Mathematical Engineering Professional Degree in mathematical engineering from the University of Chile, and a PhD in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
