Daniel Bienstock is a professor at the departments of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, and Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics, at Columbia University. He obtained the PhD from MIT in Operations Research in 1985. His research interest span computational mathematics, fundamental topics in nonconvex optimization, and applications to problem settings related to critical infrastructure, in particular the power grid.
