BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Peng Shi

Peng Shi is a PhD candidate at the MIT Operations Research Center. His research is in the intersection of Market Design and Operations Research. In particular, he is interested in creating practical systems that allocate goods and services to optimize various global objectives, while taking into account the incentives of agents. In a recent project, Peng worked with Boston Public Schools to redesign their student assignment system, using a simulation analysis based on discrete choice modelling. His recommendation is currently being implemented across Boston for all public elementary schools. Based on this project and related theoretical extensions, he won the 2013 INFORMS Doing Good with Good OR student paper competition, as well as the 2013 INFORMS Society for Public Programs, Services and Needs paper competition.
