Tuesday and Thursday Work Sessions Are Here Again!

Now that spring is here and the final rules are out it is time to get down to some serious building. In that spirit we will be holding regular tuesday and thursday work sessions starting at 5:30 in E60-060. As always first timers are welcome.

It's on!

MIT is officially registered, and we have received the final rules. Check out the 2006 page for details on vehicle construction.

Design Meeting Saturday Feb11th

Let's kick of the new semester with a resumption of the design meetings this Saturday. Now that we have the rules, I think we can do a much better job of nailing down the specification. I am going to reserve a cushy conference room in Building 32 and order us some lunch on the ORCA budget. So come on Saturday full of ideas and hungry for free lunch.

DateSaturday Feb 11th
Time11:00-1:00
LocationBuilding 32 (Room TBD)

Interested in working on ORCA?

Now that the rules for 2006 are out, work on the ORCA-IX can really begin. If you have never worked on ORCA the IAP class is a great place to get your feet wet (literally). If you can't make the class but are still interested email the ORCA list (orca@mit.edu) or stop by a meeting in E60.060

Ever want to build an underwater robot, but never get around to figuring out how? Join MIT Project ORCA (the student autonomous underwater vehicle team) and learn to build your own underwater remotely-operated vehicle. We provide the parts, you and your friends put the robot together. A competition at the end of the event will test your underwater engineering prowess and the mettle of your robot. Whose submarine reigns supreme!? Plus, you get to keep the robot.

For full details check us out in the IAP Activities Catalog, or contact Winnie Cheng, 32-G908, wwcheng@mit.edu

2006 Rules are out!

The preliminary mission requirements are out. The mission looks very similar to last years. The biggest difference seems to be that there are now four bins on the pipeline, and the random order light box tells you which bin to drop your markes in. I posed a link to the rules and some pictures on the the 2006 Competition Page.
