Advance Proposal Analysis

Step 1: Evaluate Project Resources

Identify all the possible elements of the research project that will need to be acquired to perform the project and question where they are coming from.

· Locate Project Resources from Statement of Work or other input from the researcher.

· Look for references to specific pieces of equipment or software that will be needed or materials they will need to purchase.

· Consider the contribution of any collaborators and/or sponsor.

· Ask the researcher:

à Will the proprietary information be required or proprietary software?

à Will the equipment to be used require any special training?

 

Step 2: Evaluate Agreements

Step 3: Identify Participants of and Equipment/Technology/Resources Needed for Research Project

Step 4: Evaluate Potential Research Result

Step 5: Determine Whether Outside Review or Any License is Needed and Document the Process
