NCURA Region I

Region I Distinguished Service Award


This award, presented annually, will recognize a seasoned research administrator who has made a significant contribution to the field of Research Administration or NCURA.

Purpose and Criteria

The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to an individual in order to recognize and promote many years of outstanding achievement in research administration.

It is expected that the recipient will most likely be at the mid- to senior-level with at least ten years of experience in some aspect of research administration. The Awards Committee will consider candidates who have made contributions such as the following:

•  Served on a national or regional NCURA committee

•  Made presentations and/or served on panels at national or regional meetings

•  Served as a national or regional officer

•  Authored papers in a professional publication in the field of research administration

•  Has mentored others within the region promoting the profession of research administration and/or NCURA

•  Nominees should evidence continuing and long-term contributions to research administration, as documented with current curriculum vitae.

Eligibility

Candidates should be a current member of NCURA Region I.

Nominating/Selection Procedures

The Chair of the Awards Committee will be responsible for issuing a call for nominations.

Nominations should be received in writing with the endorsement of two (2) Region I members, including one (1) who is external to the institution of the nominee. A nomination cover page must accompany the letter(s) of recommendation, a 300-500 word statement addressing the award criteria and describing the nominee's contributions to the region, the NCURA organization, and the profession, along with current curriculum vitae which outlines the contributions of the individual for Distinguished Service recognition. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Awards are based on criteria listed above, and will be determined by the Awards Committee.

The Distinguished Service Award will be presented at the Annual Spring Meeting.
