NCURA Region I

Louise Griffin

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to be considered a candidate for the regional representative to the NCURA Board of Directors.

NCURA’s mission is to “serve its members and advance the field of research administration through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and by fostering a professional, collegial, and respected community”

As a long-term member of NCURA, I have truly strived to embrace NCURA’s mission through my active participation in many activities primarily at the Regional level but at the National level as well.  During this time, I have grown professionally, evolving from newcomer status to a well-seasoned administrator.

I owe a great deal of my professional success and development to my colleagues, both in and out of the region.  These colleagues have provided me with coaching, encouragement and support.  Many of these colleagues, I consider my very close friends.

I have tried to return the kindness and knowledge shared with me by mentoring my co-workers and other colleagues.  I have also co-chaired five regional meetings and have presented at both the regional and national level.

My tenure as the Regional Chair and two successive terms as Regional Treasurer have really attuned me to the regional needs.  I fully appreciate and understand both the challenges and opportunities facing a region that operates within a national framework.  This experience is balanced through my participation on the National Leadership and Development Committee.  Serving on this committee helped me develop a much broader understanding and appreciation for the national office that tries to balance the regional needs with a broader constituency.

I would like to reaffirm my commitment to the region and the national organization by offering my time and energy as the Region I representative to the National Board of Directors.  I believe my professional experiences and my participation at both the regional and national level have fully prepared me to serve as an effective liaison between Region I and the National office.

I can be a strong advocate for the Region and an effective bridge between the regional and national office.  I am committed to NCURA’s mission and will work with the Regional leadership to ensure that our membership is well served through education and professional development programs and the sharing of knowledge and experience that separates the NCURA member from other professional development organizations.  I appreciate the opportunity to be a nominee.  It would be an honor and privilege to serve as a national board member.
