In this course we will discuss basic principles of mechanical engineering and their applications to bicycle design.

Lectures will cover forces and torques, equilibrium equations, stress and strain, Abbey's principle and St. Venant's principle as well as some bicycle specific topics.

Labs will be spent building bicycles to investigate and contemplate the design choices made by the manufacturers.
