From the Vice President of Programming
April 4, 2008

Welcome to the Events section of Panhel!

As the Vice President of Programming, one of my responsibilities is to coordinate all inter-sorority events. Last fall, the Women’s Week committee planned a series of events devoted to a celebration of women at MIT. We opened with a keynote speech by Teresa Stone, Executive Vice President of MIT, who has led a very successful career and was happy to share her experiences with us. Another event was called, “Dress for Success” where women could learn about what to wear and when! There was also a “Studypalooza Night,” which involved dessert, studying, and tutoring.

Annually during the spring, we have Greek Week – a week for all the members of the Greek community, including fraternity men, to come out and show their Greek spirit! This year, we plan on having events such as a cake-off baking competition, a dodgeball tournament, a community service day devoted to raising money and awareness for patients at Children’s Hospital Boston. Below is a picture of two participants in last year’s cake-off, and a picture of the cake that won the award for “Prettiest Cake!”

Cakeoff!   Prettiest Cake!

In addition to these central events, Panhel also sponsors numerous study breaks throughout the year, a new member retreat in the fall, as well as Women’s Professional Day and the Undergraduate Female Leadership Conference.

Thank you for stopping by our website. You can obtain more information about the sorority community at MIT here, and find out how you can become involved! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Sincerely,
