Seek and Geek
My Seek and Geek for this week seems pretty basic on the surface, but is surprisingly something that didn't exist on the market for a long time (in a reasonably priced package).
The Pax Instruments T400 temperature datalogger is basically a 4-channel K-type thermocouple readout and datalogger. It has a small screen for visual readout, an SD card for logging, and can also directly spit out the data over USB.
This combination of features is something that you simply can't find for <$800 elsewhere, and actually had prompted me to build my own setup for our lab.
The T400 is also totally open-source and hackable, which is nice because many of the other commerical temperature loggers lock you into using their (mostly sub-par) software.
The T400 was funded on Kickstarter, and just recently became available for purchase through online retailers like Adafruit.
