The Data Center Program is an initiative focused on researching and developing the languages, technologies and standards to integrate widely divergent data and analytic models across the network. While the Internet has made available vast quantities of data, the ability to merge and process this information has been a significant challenge.
The eXtensible Markup Language (XML), Web Services and the associated industry schemas have standardized the form and structure of the data, but the integration of meaning and content has not been achieved. The Data Center Program seeks to address this issue with a language - the M Language - intent on describing the semantics of information in an open and flexible standard.
Combining real-time data from the physical world - telemetry, environment monitoring and asset tracking – with networked information, such as historic records, enterprise information and business processes, creates a significant opportunity to improve logistics, asset management and system maintenance.
The technologies from these initiatives have the potential to greatly reduce costs while increasing the reliability and effectiveness of business. This seminar focuses on core components of the technology, compatibility and integration with existing standards and applications and benefits to industry.
