Research Interests

Sanfeng Wu is interested in searching for novel quantum phases and engineering new functionalities in low-dimensional condensed matter systems. In particular, he has focused his research on a class of atomically thin materials, including graphene and monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides, where his work has demonstrated the possibility of valleytronics, 2D epitaxial growth and 2D nanolasing. Wu is excited about the opportunity of to use 2D materials and their heterostructures as new platforms for observing emergent phases of matter, such as topological electronic states and strongly correlated quantum phases.

Biographical Sketch

Wu is from Hefei, China. He received his undergraduate degree in physics at the University of Science and Technology of China and is completing his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Washington, Seattle, under the supervision of Prof. Xiaodong Xu.
