Research:

My research is on the X-ray spectral properties of binary star  systems in our galaxy. Specifically, I am interested in systems which  contain a neutron star or black hole and have a low-mass (less than  the mass of our Sun) companion. These systems are commonly known as  low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs), and there are around 150 currently  known in our galaxy.  I use the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the  Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) for most of my analysis.
